Goodbye "Public Relation":
When I recently re-launched my company formerly known as best Toronto public relations, I made a conscious decision to recklessness the term PR and adopt "strategic communications." It was a change that was long tardy; here's why:
Toronto PR is too imprecise:
"Perfect Public relations Toronto." What does that mean precisely? On its own, does the saying clearly communicate what a best Public Relation agency person does or what their activities hope to get? After all, does not just about everybody in today's world relate to the public in one way or another? When your business name can just as legally be applied to everyone from school teachers to university head master, it's time to get more specific.
PR is Deceptive:
During my career, I have supervised many a college intern majoring in perfect public relations. When I would ask them what concerned them to the occupation, I always got the same answer: "we like people!" oh amazing.
Public Relation Toronto is not a "people profession." It's a writing profession focused on generating unique content that communicates and influences key audiences. But because of the deceptive name, far too many Toronto Public Relation majors enter the profession thinking they will be spending all their time trading air kisses at cocktail ceremonies and chatting with celebrities. That may be the case for a small marginal of the people busy in the profession, but it's certainly not the standard.
Strategic communication better than Public Relation Toronto:
- It's a short - yet precise - description of what the industry does: use communications platforms strategically to build trustworthiness and engage and inspire key audiences.
- It puts the stress where it rightly belongs - on communicating.
- 3. It's kindly free of the unattractive baggage that has attached itself to "Public Relation Toronto" over the year.
